During the Clone Wars, Carida was orbited by the space station Valor. The station was targeted in a Separatist plot to use a captured Republic cruiser filled with rhydonium and fly it into the station. The plot was thwarted by the Republic's D-Squad, who managed to blow up the rhydonium canisters before the ship reached the station.
Five years into the era of the Galactic Empire, Carida hosted a branch of the Imperial Academy. Berch Teller's rebel cell stole Wilhuff Tarkin's corvette, the Carrion Spike and planned to use it against the academy. The rebel group was, however, set up by Imperial Vice Admiral Rancit. He acted as an informant for several raids, but planned to betray them in order to further his own career. Rancit positioned a fleet of Imperial warships in orbit of Carida, waiting to catch them, but was in turn double-crossed himself. The rebel group had realized his betrayal, set the corvette on auto-pilot and escaped. Rancit was later apprehended by Darth Vader, who had figured out the ploy, and then executed for treason.
During the Galactic Civil War, Captain Tabor Seitaron, who was an instructor at the Carida Academy, had to accompany Imperial Prelate Verge on a journey starting at the planet. Seitaron assisted Verge in his effort to hunt down the Imperial defector Everi Chalis.
