Asajj Ventress was a Dathomirian Assassin, Nightsister and later Bounty Hunter.

Biography[]

Ventress was born on Dathomir during the days of the Galactic Republic. As part of the Nightsisters, her mother was led by Mother Talzin and the witches were forced to give Asajj up to protect the clan from the thug Hal'sted. She served him as a slave for a period of time before he was killed by a Weequay pirate. She noticed Jedi Knight Ky Narec arriving and saw a pirate attack him from behind. She called upon the force for the first time and threw him far away. Narec took her to train as his apprentice.

Ten years later, after Ventress had been trained by Narec in the ways of lightsaber combat and the force, the two were again battling weequay pirates and one shot her master in the back, killing him. Enraged, Ventress took her masters lightsaber and killed the killers with both blades.

Eventually as Ventress destroyed many of the warlords on the planet with the pirates - Rattatak, her doings were found out by the Count of Serreno - Dooku. He invited her to join him as an assassin and his apprentice. Angered at the Jedi for abandoning Narec on Rattatak, Ventress pledged herself to Dooku to have her revenge.

As she trained in the ways of the dark side with Dooku, the Clone Wars began and she was made a commander in the Separatist army. She became known for her fierce battle skills and anger to the Jedi and other adversaries. Unknown to her, Dooku had really recruited her so that they would overthrow his master Darth Sidious. During a large battle she led forces against the Galactic Republic and engaged Jedi Master Tholme in a duel. Dooku ordered her not to kill him when she won the duel but she ignored him and executed him. A short time into the war, she encountered Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker on multiple occasions.

Ventress led the Separatist into battle during the Battle of Christophsis and faced Anakin and Obi-Wan on the planet. She was also involved in a plot to turn Jabba the Hutt to the Separatist cause in which she captured his son Rotta the Huttlet. However, Republic forces would later rescue Rotta and take him back to Tatooine.

Personality and Traits[]

The death of her Jedi Master Ky Narec led Asajj Ventress down a path of incredible anger and violence. Some Jedi compared her behavior with that of a creature. During battle she had incredible rage. Towards the end of the war her compassionate side was strengthened and her rage was not quite as bad.

Skills and Abilities[]

Ventress was skilled with her two lightsabers and could fight most Jedi Masters in combat. She was able to duel evenly with Anakin and Obi wan and defeat General Grevious. She was strong with the force and one of the strongest force sensitives in history. In fact her strength was so great she was able to overpower Anakin and Obi wan when enraged. She often used her rage in battle which increased her power. While not as physically strong as Anakin or Obi wan she used her intimidating height and size to overpower the smaller Ahoska and Barris. This could be a strength and a weakness as it enhanced her abilities but also made her a little careless. Her tactics were quite the opposite of her master Count Dooku who thought all his moves through carefully. Towards the end of the war, Ventress got a yellow lightsaber and an energy bow which she used with skill.

Ventress used a pair of red lightsabers with curved hilts that could be joined together to create a double-bladed lightsaber.

Yellow lightsaber[]

A yellow-bladed lightsaber that Asajj Ventress owned during her time with Quinlan Vos while they attempted to assassinate Count Dooku.

Energy Bow[]

Ventress used a Nightsister energy bow during the same time she used a yellow lightsaber.

Trivia[]

The model of Ventress was based on concept art for Palpatine's Sith apprentice who later became Count Dooku in Attack of the Clones.
She first appeared in the first Clone Wars animated series which is now legends.
