X-wings were the main ship used during the Battle of Yavin and Luke Skywalker flew one and ended up destroying the Death Star with it.

	
		
		
	
	
Luke and Wedge Antilles, the lone survivors of Red Squadron after the Battle of Yavin, continued to fly in Red Squadron, without any credit to what they had done or who they were under Commander Narra.  Luke continued to fly his X-wing after he left Red Squadron flying it from Hoth to Dagobah and later to Bespin.

	
		
		
	
	
Wedge became Red Leader and led X-wings into battle during the Battle of Endor and helped Lando Calrissian in the Millennium Falcon destroy the second Death Star.  Red Squadron continued to serve the Rebellion until the formation of the New Republic.

The T-65B X-wing starfighter, often abbreviated as X-Wing, was a starfighter used by the Rebel Alliance.

Description

When going into battle, the X-wing would split its wings into into an X-shape, each with a blaster cannon on the end.

History

The T-65B X-wing was the premiere starfighter of the Rebel Alliance. It participated in significant battles of the Galactic Civil War, including the Battle of Yavin, Hoth, Endor as well as the Battle of Jakku, which ended the war.
