Mon Mothma was a Human female and a senator during the days of the Galactic Republic. She became an essential part of the Alliance to Restore the Republic.
Biography
Mothma was the senator of Chandrila during the Clone Wars and was one of the senators that disagreed with Chancellor Palpatine's choice to convert the Republic into the Galactic Empire. Together with Bail Organa, Padmé Amidala and a few others, she began to ready for a Rebellion, starting the Delegation of 2,000. However this early rebellion within the Galactic Senate in the Republic was brought down when Palpatine suceded in creating the Galactic Empire.
During the Rebellion against the Galactic Empire, Mothma helped the early rebel cells transform into the Alliance to Restore the Republic and became stronger. She would later lead the Rebels against the Galactic Empire during the Galactic Civil War from the planet Yavin IV, where their base was. She assigned Jyn Erso with another group of Rebels to steal the plans for the Death Star when it was near completion which later allowed young Luke Skywalker to destroy the superweapon.
Following the Battle of Yavin, Mothma served as the Chancellor of the Alliance and part of it's high command. Mothma later learned that the Empire was building a second Death Star and led the Rebels through the plan to destroy it. Unknown to her, Emperor Palpatine was aware of their plan and was drawing the Alliance into a trap above the moon of Endor. The Rebels still successfully put an end to Palpatine, his apprentice Vader, and his Death Star, winning the Battle.
Mothma became the first Chancellor of the New Republic and set it up for success. However, she rid the Republic of all military except for defensive fleets and guards. She became ill and was forced to step down as Chancellor. After this devastation happened the Senate began to split into two groups - Centrists and Populists. The senate voted to vote in a First Senator with the most powers in the Senate and Leia Organa seemed to be the most likely candidate. However, her parentage was revealed to be Darth Vader and she was eliminated from the election. Mon Mothma sent Leia a message, supporting her fully and it was obvious she had suspected the truth for some time. All this allowed the First Order to come to power which eventually destroyed most of the New Republic during Chancellor Villecham's term as Chancellor.
