The planet Moraband was a red desert world marked by tall mountains and deep valleys. It served as the homeworld of the Sith Order.
During or following the Hundred-Year Darkness, the Sith Order established themselves on this planet and maintained it as a headquarters. In a location known as the Valley of the Dark Lords, the Sith established many temples and tombs devoted to prestigious Dark Lords. The largest temple in the valley included a sacrificial chamber in its lower portions. Here, the Sith sacrificed captured Jedi Knights, using the suffering to create a space dominated by the Dark Side of the Force.
The planet saw many conflicts which devastated its surface and after a time, the Sith abandoned Moraband. Following the end of the last direct conflict between the Jedi and Sith, the body of the Sith Lord Darth Bane was interred by the Jedi in the great temple. To commemorate the killing of what they believed to be the last Sith, the Jedi had a great statue of Bane built behind the sarcophagus.
Even with Moraband losing its importance in the galaxy, the Sith continued to remember their former homeworld, right down to Darth Sidious. During the Clone Wars, Jedi Master Yoda went on a spiritual pilgrimage to Moraband. Here, he encountered illusionary specters of then-ancient Sith warriors, as well as Darth Bane, and later dueled Darth Sidious inside an illusionary realm created by the Sith Lord to break his spirit.
