Riok Ragul was a scavenger living on Jakku, one of the very few brave enough to venture into the Sinking Fields. To scavenge there he wore big flat-soled shoes that spread his weight out and kept him from sinking, a technique that he claimed was a Teedo trick.
One day he went off to the Sinking Fields and never returned. There were many rumors about what happened to him, some claimed the Teedos made him dissapear for discovering one of their secre, others say a Nightwatcher Worm got him.
Rey simply believed that one of his shoes broke, that he ran out of water, or got caught In a great sandstorm, which can last for days.
